UPDATED: Advising information for Spring 2020

As you navigate what may be your first week of remote classes at FSU, please be aware that university and college administrators are carefully weighing the potential impacts of this unprecedented situation on coursework and grading. FSU expects to release important updates this week that will address many of your outstanding questions. Please follow us on social media and visit the FSU Coronavirus dashboard for the latest news.

3/26/2020 — FSU will implement a Student Refund Plan for students who have paid or have been assessed housing and dining charges for the Spring 2020 semester and are no longer utilizing these services, with considerations.

3/25/2020 — FSU has modified its undergraduate grading policy for the 2020 spring semester. Undergraduate courses that now use letter grades will continue to use letter grades. However, students may individually opt to receive a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grade for eligible courses rather than a letter grade.

Advising information for the remainder of Spring 2020 and beyond

The COVID-19 outbreak is an unprecedented situation, and Florida State University is working quickly to address student advising needs for the rest of this semester and those to follow.

The College of Arts and Sciences Student Affairs office will remain open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, while courses are meeting online. During this time, students should communicate with advising staff by emailing as-advising@fsu.edu or calling (850) 644-1081. There will be no face-to-face advising.

Students received detailed advising guidance via email Friday, March 13, and should refer to that information for the present. Included in those instructions were links to all forms students might need. Future instructions and advising information will be shared with students via email as soon as it becomes available.

The health and safety of our students remains Florida State’s highest priority, and we understand our students and families have questions. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this challenging time.
